Medicine and Initiation | Matthew Mirkin
20 July 2026 Medical Section at the Goetheanum Zoom Talk
Mystery knowledge of the human being and initiation have always united the streams of medicine, education, and religious work, alongside a deep understanding of nature, and the macrocosmos. Healing the general human being through a knowledge of nature was always an intimate part of these mysteries. But in another sense, the individuals being initiated themselves had to go through particular experiences of illness and healing - the very process of transforming their own beings to develop higher capacities. This talk will explore this inter-relationship between the initiatory quality latent in illness, and the healing that comes with mystery knowledge. Matthew Mirkin is a coordinator of the Medical Section activity in Great Britain and a junior doctors working within the NHS. He has also completed much of the Anthroposophical Doctors training at Emerson College. Recording will be available for 2 months after the talk.
